Compatibility of old gauges k2 and prior to newer k3 - k6 ?
« on: February 08, 2009, 08:54:46 PM »
I've searched the archives and probably did not use the right string of words since I came up short.

I've got a K2 with a missing speedometer.  I've got plenty of other gauges, and I suspect they will work.

1 I would like to confirm that the gauges physically will work.

2 I would like to hear the specifics of how/what is needed to attach these gauges.  I've got the clamps, but there is the chrome cover on the back, and what looks like a rubber insulator band.  Are these the same as what is in the cups of the later gauges?  Please keep in mind my expereince and resources are the K3-K6 vintage.

3 Is there a runs down of what colors correspond to which years?  I know the K6 had a brighter Green than early gauges.  I'm not clear on the K2 vs K3 and K4.

If they have studs on the back 73 and later, they wont bolt up.
Can they be made to fit? good question, first check dia to see if ruber fits and OD is correct, then it might if you can fit the chrome covers underneath,  you  may have tosaw off the studs..
