oiling uni air filter

so i have a new uni air filter for the 74 550 and i think i over oiled it, can someone give me detailed instructions on oiling these things because all the ones i found are pretty vague

soak it with a 50/50 petrol and oil mix, then let it drain/dry for awhile before using it.

Or just buy a can of PJ1 foam filter oil and spray it on, massage it in and drive away.
To quote the can "filter is properly oiled when all surfaces are coated in oil"
That pretty well covers it I think.

yeah i have the spray oil from uni, do you dry it with a paper towel or just let it air dry, i did it yesterday and i picked it up today and it is still reallyyyyyy oily to the touch

You only need enough oil to make the surface "tacky" so dirt will stick to it.

If you think it is too oily, you can daub some if it off with paper towels, or a clean rag.
