Count the splines and measure the diameter.  I doubt it due to the metric vs SAE thing but it may stretch or compress.  I would drill small holes in the stock one for "the look"  ;D

In Boston I usually see one or two on the side of the highway (usually the left side...) I'll try to pick one up next time and count/measure for you.  Can you imagine reaching for a lower gear and coming to the realization that your shifter arm has seperated itself from your bike somewhere along the way?  AAHHHHHH!
