Oil from cows

This should add more fuel to the "which kind of oil should I use" debate.

Holy crap one cow yields 110 quarts of oil! :o
Really that's a pretty good find, if the oil is good quality then run with it.

Wonder how badly this oil would cook the clutch plates.  Hopefully, they will stay right around medium-rare!

Hey! Do you suppose we'll see oil additives coming from the folks at A1?

Bike week? Keep an eye out for My dad and sisters motorcycle Jewlery and leather, they got some cool stuff sterling silver and stainless jewelry, not as cool as my tungsten wedding ring :P but they hit all the bike shows they can.
Not to hijack more than i already did so, did you all read the whole article? They said that the testing from the american petroleum instute tests would not take long so we could see more of this sooner than we think, then we can find out more like wet clutch issues like what oldschool stated. What additives too are going to be interesting like what the viscosity does as that oil is heated, like with cooking oil we all can see it thin out pretty good after its heated to proper temp.

This brings up another thing before I forget, in another oil thread peole talked about too hot and proper oil temp. Well my boss happens to be an old race car guy, lived all over the US and he was telling that they used to preheat the oil to 190-210f deg. for the engines before racing. One time he said they were really busy and forgot to turn the heater off and the oil was at almost 300 degrees, he freaked out told the head mechanic and the mechanic shrugged his shoulders and said it wasn't that big a deal that there is much more to oil than we think.
This came from nascar engine builders too , and would you believe how short the drivers really are? They are like race horse jockeys.

Just as important as it thinning out when hot, I wonder what they have blended it to stop it solidifying when cold.

They claim it's biodegradable. I wonder how quickly it'll bio-degrade inside the engine...

Seems to me like they specifically said it's not biodegradable:

"But as with petroleum-based engine oil, G-Oil should not be dumped on the ground."

“We’re working on that issue for people who change their own oil, but we’re not quite there yet with a cradle-to-grave answer,” Dr. Zuckerman said. “For now, we recommend taking our oil to a recycling center.”

It was their Motor Silk engine additive that's considered biodegradable.

What will the recycling center do with it? It can't be mixed with petroleum based oil can it??

I did too.  I envisioned acers and acres of dead cows with their entrails used to produce motor oil.  Oh the humanity.....

Definitely Jersey cows!  The oil has a higher butterfat content making it better for lubrication.

I saw a TV show on a rendering works and they said that the oil from there is already being used to make synthetic oil. Dead stinky cows. And cosmetics too. Your sweetie may be rubbing dead cow on her face.

I'm all for it, it claims to me the SM API rating system and this motor silk stuff is supposed to give 10-20% greater mpg.

Would I use it in my bike with a wet clutch: no.

Would I use it in my car to see if it could give "up-to" twenty percent greater mpg; certainly.

The fact of the matter is, we could be cut off at any given moment, and by having a REAL alternative, it lessens the vice we suffer from.

Honda is also working on a green engine oil. If Honda is putting their name on it, no matter who the real manufacture is, you know it is quality stuff.
