550 electrical gurus needed
« on: February 13, 2009, 11:06:26 PM »
Howdy all, i am not putting back the dash eg: speedo/tacho/warning lights, and just fitting a small aftermarket speedo to my 550k 1977 model.
Will any of the wiring that went to the warning lights/speedo/tacho need to be looped or anything?.Or will it be ok to just simply leave these connectors unplug in the wiring loom?
Also the front brake switch thats in the front brake line i will also not be reconnecting.
Any help would be appreciated.

cheers

Any brake or tailight wiring will need to remain connected in the bucket.  Also, the starter solenoid may be connected to the headlight to interrupt the headlight during starting.  I have pulled the entire dash light system out of a 750 with no ill effects.  I hope this helps but you may need a schematic and your bike may vary depending on the work of previous owners.  http://oldmanhonda.com/MC/MC.html  has diagrams that may help.

If you have the starter safety circuit i think you need the neutral bulb for it to work but not 100% sure
