« on: February 13, 2009, 08:06:37 PM »
Here are some of my Fish Tanks I make out of un used motorcycle gas tanks. alot of them are Honda gas tanks. Another use for those unwanted tanks that know one wants.

My fish are either to be hung on the wall, free stand on the floor or I can make them into fountains for fish ponds. I wouldn't make them to be re-installed on a bike because of that dorsal fin would kill ya.

No, I have to tell them. And when they realize what they are made from they say, NO WAY!
And I laugh.

I use tanks that no one wants, the ones that have dents or that are rusted and can't be used for bike building or restoration. I wouldn't think of using a nice tank for my art. I wouldn't have the heart to cut up a perfectly good tank.

The fish I make that hang on the wall, I sell for $150.00
The fish that I make that are floor standing, they are mounted on a pedistal I sell for $300.00
And same for for the fish pond fountains, they sell for $300.00
They truely are a one of a kind. You can't buy them at walmart, LOL
I have made 47 fish so far and each and every one have put a smile on the purchaser. People can't believe that this fish was once an ordinary motorcycle gas tank!

Cool, thanks! One of these would make a great gift! Would you take off $5 if I gave you an old gas tank  ;D.

Sure, But I have plenty of gas tanks and I would still give you a $5.00 dollar discount if you would like me to use one of my tanks. That isn't a big deal to me. Knowing that you will love the finished product is what really matters to me.

Of the mechanical (?) sourced art I've seen this is one of the best executed.

That's how I meant it. It just didn't come out so swell. Being a gear head artist using machine sourced material is fascinating; some examples are hokey, others poor quality. And you seem to price your work within reach of mere mortals.

I try to be resonable with my prices. Ive been told that I should sell them for much much more. But I'd rather sell them than sit on them for some stupid amount of money. I just like seeing the customers faces light up when they see the finished product.

Hey Steve,

Have you ever sold these at "the art fair on the square" in Madison? If not you should.

Hey Steve,

No I haven't. And you and all my friends have said the same. What I need to do is buy a white 10x10 tent and make a display to show the work being sold. I think I will do that this summer so I will be ready for next year. Thankyou for your post. Steve
