CB550 Carb help
« on: March 09, 2009, 08:03:39 PM »
I am in the latter stages of my cb550F rebuild.

#1
After buying a set of carbs on ebay (they are extremely gummed up and i don't think they're salvagable) and having the ones that came with the bike (which are completely shot).

I've concluded that I should look elsewhere for a decent set of carbs.

So, does anyone know where I can find a set off another bike that will fit the 74 CB550F or a reasonably priced rebuild kit?

#2
I am running a megaphone exhaust and will be running pod filters.  What Size jet can you recommend? and where to get them?

Thanks and pardon my carb ignorance.

Here's a pic of the most current progress.

The carbs from 500/550 from 71 through 76 inclusive are all basically the same bodies with different jets. alternative main jets are not easy to get but try http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/misc_carb_parts.htm#Main%20Jets

rebuild kits from sirius
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
