Newbie from CT - 73 CB500
« on: February 17, 2009, 05:38:03 AM »
I recently picked up a 73 CB 500-4 that has been sitting for 15 years with the head off. A friend of mine had it and needed to clean up his shed so I took it home, first I had to evict the mice but the price was right ($0). Long story but it was in pretty sad shape. I started with replacing all the seals, cam chain, rings and so on, I figure this will take a while but I enjoy bringing old broken stuff back to life. I'd love to cafe it out but funds are not readily available right now.
Other than the CB500 I have 4 dirt bikes, and 3 MGB's only one of them runs but it was a basket case when I got it, that was a 4 year restoration and I did everything myself including the paint.
Great website, I've gotten a lot of good info from this site and hope to be able to contribute in the future but for now I'm still figuring out how to get the motor back together.

I live in Goshen and have been to Canton Cycles several times to drool over the bikes (but not on them) A friend of mine works at CC, Peter DeBischop, I worked with him at the Torrington Co for many years. I'll have to stop in the shop and introduce myself soon. I've got admit that I do most of my shopping at Strictly Dirt, since dirt bikes are my #1 passion. I haven't done any road riding in many years, but will be back on the road when the CB500-4 is done.
