RC30
« on: May 07, 2005, 04:44:16 AM »
There was a previous thread on this board about VFR750s - I bought another Honda (550K3) instead!

Someone mentioned the VFR750R (or RC30) - well here's one for sale on eBay (UK) - start at only £13000 !!!

Yea.  That was one of my pipe dreams.  My RC30 lives right next to a few other bikes I'll never own.

I suppose sticking with attainable bikes is my best bet.  Thats why I like Japanese bikes so much though.  You can still find some very restorable collectors for around $200.00.

Only 3 days left - currently bidding at £13000!!

I see the bidder has zero feedback - I wouldn't like to be the seller... (I am in Nigeria, I send cheque for £20000, you send me bike and change...)

Steve,

Looks like the one in the pic has been a race bike with the three spoke Marvics.
I have a set on my VFR.  They weigh less than a pint of best bitter.

Bloody Hell Sam!  A pint of Best Bitter weighs in at 570g! - assuming it's 99% water!

Those plain white leathers are soooo 1970's - were you ever in a pop group?

Tell about your racing "stable" then, so far we've seen the CR and the VFR.

Hi Steve,

The CR750 belongs to my mate Chris. He asked me to help him to build it, but it ended up with him as the helper.  Its not to bad as I get the odd ride on it.
The VFR after five and a half years went back to it's original owner after the FA cup yesterday.
I am left with two early Benlys. A 1962 model in race trim (bit tatty) and the other is a 1964 in sprint trim (weighs in at 139lbs)
Bike #3 is a RS125 I have had for six years, and only rode once.
Bike #4 is an odd ball.  It's a 250 two stroke V3 code named MC09 MVX250F. It needs the motor sorted and I will turn it into a race or sprint bike.  I think the gearing on it is a bit low as it rockets up to 185kph then runs out of revs.
The money I got for the VFR should I hope get them all sorted and get me a better car for winter.

Stay cool.  Regards Sam.

Reading the review of the RC30 in CMM this month, it seems that the bike is a bit of a handful at normal road speeds and overheats easily.  The owners interviewed seemed to be more collectors than riders!

My motivation is thinking that there is some wanker out there who has an RC30 and doesn't know it.  He will get his girlfreind knocked up and have to sell it.  I'll be there, waiting, with a small fold of $100 bills and just at the right moment, when his girl's water breaks, I'll wave them in front of his nose.  Cha-Ching!  His loss=my gain.
These little fantasies play through my brain and I feel the motivation to keep searching.  They apply to all kinds of bikes.
"Sure, if you don't want that bike in your backyard, I guess I'll take it."  "I'll probably just scrap it......"
