well hello everyone. today i finally got my bike to my new garage!!...im really happy about this, im renting out from a few Australian girls!!...very nice!well i got it in there and i started to tare it apart, now im going to start to do a top end rebuild on the bike. now i know of a few things that i can do to get a lil bit more outta her.i would appreciate if you guys could tell me what you know to get the most out of her. cheers

The most common thing I've seen lately is a 650 cam put in.
Some people get better carbs.

Good for you on the garage space, nice to have a proper shop to work in...there's loads of great 550 build threads going in the Project section. Have a look and check your bank balance, then get dirty...

If you're keeping the bike stock, I'm proud of you they are great looking bikes, otherwise shedding a bunch of weight helps.

Often it's said there's nothing like a displacement increase, standard 750 pistons with some machining is an option. (some of these "kits" on E-bay come with rings that are JUNK)  but like mlinder says a different cam is noticable and inexpensive.
At least do a good valve job at the same time.

Replacing the stock air filter with Uni in the original airbox breathes a bit better and will require raising the needle and a possible bump in main jet.

moham can tell you what it costs to go-big, depends on how deep your pockets are.  ;)
