78 cb550k rear wheel bearings retainer

trying to get the rear wheel bearing retainer off.I know it has a lefthand thread so I should be turning it to the right or clockwise to loosen it right? also it has a directional arrow embossed in the castings,any idea what that is for? any help is appreciated.fergie

Hi Fergie,

It is a left hand thread and can be a bugger. You can try drilling just slightly at the point where it has been center punched to remove that thread damage. I made a tool to fit the retainer to remove, or you can see your dealer to rent/borrow one.
