Gunked up

After removing the rack of carbs on my '76 550 I have found that everything inside the bowl is coated with gum/gunk crap.
The float pin will not budge and everything is stuck. I want to take everything apart to thoroughly, but is there anything that will remove (dissolve) the topical gunk so that I can crack things open?

This question was asked a little while ago, wasn't it?
I thnk the general concensus was libbral amounts of carb cleaner and letting it soak in for a while.
If you check back a few pages on this board, you'll probably find the post.

If you use regular carb cleaner then you`ll need to replace you o-rings but if they`re that gunked up they`ll need to be dipped anyway. And make sure you get all of the passages and jets clean.
Yamaha Carb Cleaner doesn`t affect o-rings but it`s not available everywhere.
It`s some delicate work as the towers the pins are in aren`t too strong. You can tap them out using a small punch or nail then grab them with needlnose pliers.
I use regular carb dip on mine such as Gunk or Berryman`s.
The first pic is after the carbs had been soaking for a while, the pins were all stuck too.
