STALLED '76 CB750A
« on: February 21, 2009, 11:02:37 AM »
Took the fairing off my CB750A and it ran. Finished rewiring half the lights and it ran by kick-starting. Finished wiring the rest, including the headlamp, and now she won't start. I've tried all the service manual troubleshooting suggestions except for testing the spark plugs. Could it be a short in the wiring? - Lee in AZ

retrace your rewiring steps until you find the problem.

The black wire running to the coils is the power wire.  The blue and yellow are from the points.  Get a meter or test light and see where you are losing power to that black wire.  I believe the A model is wired like all the others in that the headlight switch is designed to cut power to the headlight when the starter is cranked.  If all else fails, find a switched positive wire and run it to the black wire at the coils.
