73 CB750

Here's my $150 acquisition.  Last ridden by the previous owner in 1987.  Sitting ever since.  I'm off to crappy tire to get a few things today.  Not sure where to start but every part seems to be there.  Including some highway pegs that will be first to go since they aren't very ergonomic for me as I'm 6'3" .  What is the best place to get replacement cables?  Any places in Vancouver?  Honda dealer?  Or is the internet my best bet?  Thanks in advance.

For $150 it's a steal.  Now expect to pay many times that getting the way you want it.

Your Honda dealer still has some parts like wheel bearings and such.

Search on here as there are some great suppliers for just about everyting you could want.

I'm just starting my project and I am amazed at how much is still available for these bikes.

Ebay is loaded with stuff.

Congrats

No kidding, hard to go wrong for $150. Good luck with it.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Very nice, and a very nice price.  I got my K3 in 2001 for $200 US and those deals are all gone now, these bikes easily go for 800-1000 in the shape yours and mine arrived in.  How's that fueltank?  it looks great but is it rusty inside or underneath?  I noticed it still has the chrome trim at the bottom edge, those are a bit rare in good shape so care for them well.  Your seat doesn't look original, but if you like it, it's fine.  Seats are available from a few sources, including Honda.  There aren't too many parts that aren't available somewhere.  Check your local classifieds, craigslist, look in peoples backyards and garages as you drive by, ask friends and neighbors, parts and other neglected bikes that you can use for parts are out there waiting for a caring hand to redeem their value.

But it can be addicting, you may not be able to stop with just one bike....  a word about tires, old tires get hard and crack with age.  They aren't safe to ride on, so read some of the threads here about tires and figure out how much you'd budget for good tires.  Oh and beware of posting questions about tires or oil, it's sort of a running joke around here...

Welcome.

Nice find.  I also just picked up a bike for a good price that sat for many many years.  They are still out there, sometimes it takes some digging, quick action, or as with me just a happy confluence of circumstance (dumb luck) ;D  The 76F that I got sat in storage in a shed two house down from me for 25 years and I did not know it was there until last fall.  Take a walk around your neighborhood or town and take a peek in any open garage doors you see.  They may be closer than you think.  There are occasionally good "steals" on Graigslist here locally though you have to act very quickly, sometimes within an hour or two  of the listing.  You have to haunt the list to get these.  Recently I missed out on a 71 XS650 Yamaha in very nice shape.  This is a highly collectable bike and it was gone when I called 2 hours after being listed.  It went for 1/3 of it's true value.

I received my keys from Hondakeys (work great) and was finally able to have a look under the seat when the rain subsided.

The seat was filling up with water and leaking all over everything below.

The battery was stuck in there good and has seen better days.

The electrics need a good cleaning and test with a new battery.

Be able to clean up the battery box with a repaint.

No rust on bottom of tank and inside looks a bit rusty.

Speedo cable came out rusted.  Picked a new one up from Honda for under $20.

Looks like I have a lot of work ahead but I am still quite positive about it.  For now  :).
I'm sure you guys have seen it all before, which is a good thing for me.
