CB750 pistons
« on: February 22, 2009, 04:26:31 PM »
My question is, will these Pistons interchange.
The Piston on the left is out of my 78 cb 750 motor
notice the slight dome'
The piston on the right is out of a 76 motor
notice the "fly cuts" for the valves
Notice the difference. Will they interchange???

Is the domed piston out of an F motor perhaps? Not sure about swapping F pistons into a K head.

Take a wrist pin and line the 2 pistons up.
I would check (visually first) deck height differences(if any) and take note of the differences in the valve clearance between the 2 pistons.
If I were truly worried, I would use a granite inspection, and get the real differences in heights, valve reliefs, and dome height.

If you want to get some valve reliefs cut in those, lemme know.
I have a jig made for holding 61mm(stocker 750) pistons to modify them for use in a cb650.
I could set up and cut the reliefs if you feel they need to be there.
