Got me a big O'l box of stuff.

I found a local guy with a bunch of parts he was selling on ebay.
Local ...  well 1000km away is still local. At least he was in the right country.
I really didn't want to bother with transporting across the border from the States into Canada.
I found him on ebay when I was just starting to look for parts.

This crate arrived today.


after tearing it apart


frame is freshly painted and is a 72
the engine is a 76 with a fresh rebuild
carbs have been rebuilt as well and look spotless.

I will still have to go through everything as much as possible as I don't like relying on someone elses work.

These parts are going to be used along with the original bike I found.  It's a 77 with the original pipes in great shape.


Once I get going I will be sure to post my progress.

I have been on here for a couple of months now and I can't tell you how impressed I am with all the friendly and knowledgeble people on here.

I'm sure I will have lots of questions as things progress. But I'll search first.

Hopefully the end result will be my interpretation of a cafe racer. Not period correct but with some modern touches to it.

Wow, that looks like a great score!  Is that everything laid out in the second pic, or is there more?  It looks like you have a pretty solid base to work from, anyway.  Motorcycles definitely seem to have the nasty awesome habit of multiplying!

Nice looking motor. Wonder what it's got inside? I love the box-o-stuff aspect. It makes me feel better about driving around with a 750 motor in my trunk for three weeks...

Just out of curiousity, what did the glory box set you back?
Love that engine...how could he bare to part with it?

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Everything is laid out is the second pic.
Apparently the fellow lost interest in the project.

Supossedly the motor has just been honed and ringed.
All the gaskets and seals have been replaced.

The frame has a clear title and is now in my name.

I think I will check the engine's cam timing and valve clearences and then drop it in and see.

Best bet would be to reassemble the bike that came in the box using the 77 as a guide to make sure it goes together right. Then you have yourself two 750s to play with.

Will you visit him in the sanitarium? ;D
Can't stop looking at that buff engine, just how do you get them to look so good, that's my project for the winter (your summer) remove donkey and clean/paint/polish then she will truly be a thing of beauty. ;D

Hard to believe someone would get so far and then give up.

The paint on the frame is real nice and the shocks are new.

I definitely paid a premium but when you consider the condition of the parts it was worth it.

The second best thing about the day was that for the first time in 4 months it felt like spring.

The temp broke into the plus's.
