My uncle is the worst you cannot find anything in his toolboxes I hate it.
In the oficcial sam green racing garage there is no clutter attall you can find any thing you want in no time.

Yes I made it, It is a 15mm wrench cut in half and welded to half of a deep 14mm socket. It was for removing valve springs with the head on the motor, but I got impatient and after welding it put it in the snow @18 degrees f. and it over hardened I probably rate right up there with your uncle toolbox wise. I have 5 or 6 sets in one toolbox and my garage holds the rest. Only I can find the tools!

Why do you want to take the valve caps off with the head on, the valves will fall in to the head, then you'll have to take the head off to retreive them

Turn the "handle" end 90 degrees and weld back on, or braze. Oil quench, instead of snow temper.

Looks a good tool for changing springs a valve guide seals. I
ll be making something similar for a 550. Right after I make an air hose fitting for the spark plug hole.

I can see what your saying Gordon but i think I'd let it smoke till it was ready for a full valve job and rebore.

TT, the snow treatment would likely harden it, not temper it.

At any rate tempering is a process that follows after hardening..

I make boomerangs out of tools fairly often. The only problem is they never make the return trip! $:-\$

You have to rotate the engine to keep the piston up then you can change valve guide seals, springs, and keepers with the head on.

You can only do two cylinders at a time, then rotate 180 degrees and do the other two.

I just intalled an 850 kit from cyclex but I couldent find a valve spring compressor to save my life so I got creative.

Just stick a piece of rope in there, then turn engine till rope pushes against valve. them remove keepers..

but everyone knows that dont they..

You can also use an air compressor to hold the valves up. I employed that method once when replacing a broken valve spring on a Volvo P1800 for a friend. Connect a compression tester fitting to your air hose and plug it into the spark plug hole. It pressurizes the combustion chamber and holds the valves in the closed position.
