[Someone needs to make performance-oriented bike gear that doesn't look like it came out of a pink-and-frilly boutique. :P
"Do these rhinestones make my gloves look fat?"
Or my personal favorite, the pink leather jacket that doesn't cover your midriff for $400.  Seriously, WTF?

My gear top-down is:
HJC Orbit CL-15 in black/white/silver
Power Trip mesh jacket with shoulder/elbow/back armor (only piece of "women's" gear I own, fits and not flashy) in black/silver
Black leather jacket for additional wind blockage when cold
Olympia black gauntlet gloves
Scorpion Exo Deuce overpants in black
Setup sport riding boots in red/black/silver/white (call 'em my clownshoes  :D )

I wear every bit of it, even in the summer when temps hit over 100 degrees.  The only time I skimp is when riding to work (3 miles on surface streets) and then I'll wear regular over-ankle boots instead of the clownshoes so I don't have to pack an extra pair of footwear for walking around the office.  Otherwise it's ATGATT.

I pretty much dress like Arnold (minus the sunglasses at night... since I'm not actually a terminator).

And yeah... I have the gun too.  It's for safety.   ;D

Yeah, yeah, yeah... and I wear a helmet too.  :)

It was in Terminator, circa 1984.  I about shat my pants when I first noticed it after I got my own CB 750 (never really paid attention before).

Jeans, some sort of footwear, a weather-worn and beaten leather jacket from '95 when I first started riding. Full face helmet.  I feel like a complete bad ass kickstarting the old 750.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

I know what you mean!  My starter works fine, but I just LOVE kicking it when in the company of modern, non-kickable bikes!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Most of the time, I wear Dickies, boots, gloves, full face helmet, and riding jacket.
During my accident, I was wearing some ballistic padding pants as well.
Because of the accident, I probably wont get back on a bike without full leathers with the back and joint protectors. A back protector probably would have cut down on the six broken vertebrae, to possibly one or two.

Don't get me wrong, I love wearing a beenie helmet, jeans, a black t-shirt, gloves and antique goggles, but it just isn't worth it.
No.

Been wanting one of these bikes since 1974. If I ever get mine done, I've been saving this jacket just to ride in. Can't wait! BTW, the concert was killer.

I never been down with leather on but the one trip sliding down the road with denim will stay with me. I got burns in places the denim didn't even wear through. YeoW.
Still I wear my bell helmet from my dragster,, jeans a leather jacket and gloves if it's cool enough outside.

You're not a real biker unless you can show some scars!  :D ;)  The idea is to keep the shiny side up, so's you don't need all of that hot leather.  ;)

I'm usually the one with the work boots & jeans, Full face HJC red, white, black and gray graphic, black joe rocket pheonix mesh jacket when it's 70 or above...
Or Chaps (over the jeans) and black police style jacket with a few blue bandannas to keep the wind out when it's 60 or below.
Olympia kevlar gauntlets (which I wore through 2 fingers on over the summer) or a pair of budget thinsulate pleather gauntlet gloves from ebay.

leather jacket, t-shirt or wool for cold, boots, levis, gloves, and bell helmet

this is my jacket and a guy who looks like my style except for the way too calm expression on his face considering his situation.

I hate to talk about the topic too....but I'm 53 and have never had an accident ( car or bike )...O.K., call me conceited but how I ride is based on the decision I made a long time ago that I am INVISABLE to all other traffic...if there is a car at a T junction...it will come out because it does not see me...does this make for a 'slow, brake-twitching' ride..not at all..but it's just practice.

+1

Most motorcycle wrecks I hear of, even when technically caused by a car driver, could have been avoided by the biker had he been riding with that thought in mind.

I agree.  My own experience of getting hit by a truck that was coming from the opposite direction and decided to pull a U-turn across a double yellow line right into me convinced me of that(my left hip took out the trucks driver's side headlight, grill and fender while the bumper thankfully passed just behind my leg and knocked the rear cylinder off the engine as I was on a forward control v-twin cruiser, bike was severely messed up).  I don't remember the accident so I don't know what I saw or didn't see but I'm sure I could've seen the driver's eyes or something and used this forewarning to possibly avoid what happened.  I had about 5 years and 30,000 miles of riding at that point.  Also, I was in the middle of a regular, almost daily, 3/4 mile commute at 30-35 mph, no safety gear whatsoever, just jeans/t-shirt and boots.  I consider myself extremely lucky on that one but it likely could have been avoided if I had been riding like I was invisible.

I also believe that if I had been wearing proper gear I would have walked home instead of riding in an ambulance to the emergency room.
