beadblasting carbs
« on: October 14, 2005, 12:26:16 PM »
seems like a bad idea to me, but has anyone ever beadblasted their throttlebody once everything is fully disassembled? seems like if air could blow it in (to any small orifaces), then air could blow it out...but there are many places bead could get lodged. i usually do my float bowls and top covers, but have always wanted to use it to clean up the exterior. guess i could just clamp something durable (seat vinyl?) over the throttle openings once reassembled, and blast then...

I don't know if it's ever been done on a carb, but there are places that have machines that use tiny dry ice pellets as blasting media. This way, it just sublimates into gas, and there's no mess.
