400F Problems?
« on: April 13, 2005, 03:23:26 pm »
I am thinking about buying a 400F. Always wanted one, and there is one in my area in the sahpe I am looking for. Ran when parked 10 years ago. Turns over. Complete. What kind of things should I look for that are specific to the 400/350? I have a 500, so I know a lot of the general stuff. Anything that is hard to find replacements for, breaks easily, etc??

Trple, I've ridden mine for the last three years pretty hard and have yet to have anything break. Hope I didn't jinx myself with the last statement. The only problem I found is if you are trying to stay stock a lot of items are becoming obsolete.

Ouch. Running when parked in 1992. Sold for $1025. Is that kinda high? I didn't go for it.

That price was probably a little high- you'd be looking at a new chain, chrome is probably rusted, definitely new tires, and the carbs are almost quaranteed to be a paved-over swamp. Those carbs are a bear to rebuild (in my humble opinion).  Just because the paint is good... I've found the best way to keep these bikes up is to run the snot out of them as often as possible. They will get revenge if you ignore them.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!
