Snowed in...
« on: February 26, 2009, 03:16:36 PM »
Gah!

Damn!

Double damn!

I'm stuck at work. No joke. My little Del Sol can't move!!

Got six inches of snow all around it. I CAN'T LEAVE!!

Grrr.

Wish I had a beer right now.

Yeah man, Del Sols suck in the rain and snow. You need a truck for bad weather like I have.

I totally want a truck too.

I want a little Tacoma. We have one we use here at work for deliveries and it rocks. Alas, I don't have that kind of money.

The del sol is not bad at all actually, As long as the snow is not half way past the tire it can truck along just fine. Also I've got some decent rubber on them right now so ice and rain are no problemo.

Yeah, could be that my tires don't have a lot of tread on them- the truck is for the rain and snow so I don't really have to sweat it.

No beer :(

Or cat food, but that's okay because there is no cat lol.

I just finished stripping all the paint of my frame!!!

I got it hung up on the rack and am preheating the oven to powder coat it. I am excited..

Also polishing the rear brake hub. Booooring.

of course we dont have the problem of being snowed in here, though on the very rare occasion we get snow that accumulates, people her act like it;s the end of the world and theres a run on bread, bottled water and ice, crap like that
i make sure i have at least 12 rolls of TP, a case of beer, enough food and treats for the cats and i keep a case or MRE's in the closet as well, theyre actually pretty good nowadays.

I keep thinking of 'stocking up' just in case we loose power for more than 5 days, but in the past 25 years in Vermont have only lost power/been snowed in for no more than 2 days.

Besides, I can walk 3 miles to the store to purchase some milk/beer/dead cats if need be.

Peace,
michel

MRE's are good till you get put in the desert and eat them two times a day for seven months..

Bob, my granddad gave me on of his c-rats from ww2... chipped beef with toast, we heated it up and ate it. It was still okay, kind of sick to think about all the preservatives in that...

Yep and I get to close tonight at five, woo frickin hoo!

The frame fell down in the oven, after I powderd it.. so I am working on stripping it down again, which took me a freakin week in the first place.

It was still a productive night however. I polished the life out of my rear brake hub and got my handle and brake parts and pedals and levers all painted up or powder coated.

Guys, I can't speak for whatever MREs taste like now, but when they first came out....................(one word)   YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the C's that I had, weren't that bad and I'm a pretty picky eater too! ;D  We used to call MRE's, "Junk Food Ina A Bag!" :D  Ate some strawberries once (they are dehydrated and I ate them dry) and drank some Mountain Dew along with it! :o  Bad mistake! ::)  Those dehydrated strawberries didn't take long to start swelling up! :-\  Not good! ::)

BTW, the C's came with a small can opener and I have carried one on my keyring since back in the 60's. ;)

We were doing a port op once and there was three of us, we were told that landing support would bring us food, they did not. We found some tray rats and cooked them on the engine of the tram haha

Well it was meat loaf in a little aluminum tin, but those big engines get hot hot hot, so it was very sufficent, and while I have eaten better before and since then, it was not the worst thing I've ever had.

Now after thirty five hours of being at work I can go home.

JOY!

I will post pictures of what was accomplished and what was not.

As well as my refinishing wheels thread for Terry.

Here you go Heff, my frame as it sits now, after my falling down failed powder coat attempt.

Also my brake hub that I made all purdy, and painted and cleared some brake parts.

Not bad for a couple hours work.
