Another testimonial for proper riding gear
« on: February 26, 2009, 05:32:49 AM »
Last week a good buddy of mine was struck by a deer at 60mph.  The deer was killed, his bike ended up being totaled (frame bent etc.)
However, my buddy walked away a bit dazed with only a small scrape on his hand where his glove came off.

He always rides with an armored jacket, gloves, boots & a real helmet.    He's alwasy the first to tell me...."dress for the crash"

I've since upgraded some of my gear - mainly a new more protective jacket and some new glove.

Be careful out there fellas, you never know what could jump out in front of you.

* Luckily, depending on how you look at it, the bike he was on wasn't his CB is was his HD bagger.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I wonder how that crash would have played out the way most of the mouthbreathers on this side of the state line dress (no helmet, no gloves, jeans).

My wife hit a deer at 45 mph in Upstate New York back in November.  She was well-dressed for the crash with full leathers, boot, gloves, etc.  Her only mistake was wearing a half helmet.  Fortunately, between the dentist and plastic surgeon she's good as new... and shopping the stores for a full-face helmet.
