Two quick parts questions... bars & tires
« on: March 15, 2009, 08:39:14 PM »
While my '74 550's in the shop getting a tuneup I wanted to sort out the nastiest things I can do myself. I just orderd twogums badass seat cover.

Is there a bar that is somewhere between my mini-chopper bars & superbike? I'm afraid superbikes will leave me a little too hunched over since I'm not that tall.

About tires, whats a good option for no more than 150$ a set? Ah, to be young & poor...

as for the bars it sounds like the stockers would be a good choice. right between mini chopper and super bike.as for the tires i pesonally like the bridgestone spitfires.

Oh, they are stock bars. I was making fun of them  ;D. Is there anything between stock and the superbikes?

Risers, didn't even think of that.

What about European style? some pictures they seem to be almost the same as superbikes, others they look like they are a little taller. Anyone have those?

Talk to Deltarider, he swears by them (eurobars).

$150 mounted for tires might be tough to swing- you might have to save a while longer.

I do. And moreso than Superbike, Euro style has many differences. Primarily variants of "R" BMW bars. http://www.sideroadcycles.com/ImportedMotorcycles/ImportHandlebars/BMWbars/MaguraBMW.html

Scroll down to C20 for highest rise with most pullback.

Ended up going to AMT and came out 143$ with Bridgestone Spitfires, tubes and rim strips. Shipping put me over, 27$ extra. Not too bad though, AMT was way less than pretty much everywhere I looked. I think I have an 'in' at a tire shop and can get them mounted on the cheap.

Shipped them to a friends house in a safe neighborhood, damn mail theifs!!

Sweet, let me make sure I worked out the 'battery drains at high rpm' problem and I'll get the bars ordered. If the reach is too much I'll shoot you a PM. Thanks!
