Help identify a wire from (to?) the points. Pics inside.
« on: March 03, 2009, 06:26:51 PM »

Hello.
Can someone help me identify the black wire in the first picture? And what is its function? The way its connected now: its a switched hot wire thats been soldered together to the hot going to the rear brake light switch. The wiring diagrams ive seen only show the yellow and blue wires that connect to the coils, but no black power wire. (im just assuming that the red wire I have should be blue and that someone monkeyed with it in the past)
Thanks guys.

appears to be a drunk monkey job.......trying to get power to or from the brake switch.  What bike? should be a blue and and a yellow wire only if points....Dyna's have a blue, yellow, and red 12v wire to power the modules.....try and disconnect the monkey job......your coils by the way are supplied power via black/white wire thru the kill switch.

There are(were) a number of different electronic ignitions available for the SOHC's. If you have one, then it would explain the power wire connected to the brake light switch(popular place to tap into 12v switched for elec. ignitions.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame
