Ohhhhhhhhhhhhkay!
I've got some sanding, prepping and painting to do wed. Also I'm gonna chop up the seat I started to make and just use enough of it to have a seat to sit on.
The struts are really not that bad. I remember loads of people saying that they're awful and such. However, I've never ridden a bike with shocks, so I don't know the difference.
My ass hurts, but it's from the bolt on the battery box. Where I sat on the frame doesn't hurt either, just where that bolt was hitting my butt cheek. haha
SOme pics?

Oh yea, I have what I think you guys call a "puck" leaking? in between 1 and 2 on about 2 fins.

Also, After starting and stopping and starting and stopping and riding and blah blah blah I found that I need an ignition switch. My lights will go off and it stops and I barely tap up under the ignition on the plastic thing and it all comes back on. Z1 sells them for 23 bux, but they're out of stock.  >:(

I almost got whitewalls. I love em, but my bike got called a rat like 3 times yesterday, I don't think whites would go good on her.  :(

I'm gonna start collecting parts for my winter rebuild.
This is basically going to consist of removing EVERYTHING and loads of cleaning, painting, gaskets, clutch, blah blah blah blah all the goodies. I want her to not only look great next year, but run awesome.
They sell engine "kits" on ebay. You think I'm capable of doing this myself if I had a manual?

True that, but I bet the comments were based partially on the missing buttox of Elsa.  :D
Well if you do go the dual disc route read my or better yet IGGY's build thread he hit all the angles and every link known to mankind in his build thread and is awesome, and if you need drill templates to drill just one template I have pdf's of those or I can just spil out a template for you.
Party on. ;D

You should be ok with a manual. Not too difficult.

If you are going to go the dual disc rounte I would suggest either the F set-up with EBC rotors (they look cool) or if all you want are slots get tapered bearings for the stem and a late 70's yamaha front end. Bolts up with a spacer. (ask me how I know)

You can use either 320mm Ducati front discs ($180 on ebay last time I looked) or the stock yamaha ones on a yamaha wire wheel.

Best to save up about $500 in reserve if you are going to break into the engine.  Just for the extra stuff you'll need to fix/change "while you're in there".  Particularly if it's your first time.  Education can be costly.  How often is the word oops followed by expletives and a patch made from money?

500 bux on top of the engine kit? That's alot of double cheeseburgers.
I often patch battered womens wounds with money. Helps smooth things over.

Last night I pulled off my points cover to take off my advancer and lube and such. When I pulled the cover off, there was a screw, washer, and lock washer in there, just...rollin' around. After some inspection, I found it to be off of the points plate where you adjust with a small flathead screwdriver. I inspected the threads, and condition of the washers and reinstalled. I adjusted it to where the gap in the "silver" plate and the "brass" plate lined up and tightened. I pulled off the plate and the advancer and it seemed to be springing but it did however have some type of varnish on it. I cleaned thorougly with carb cleaner, dried and lubricated with some PTFE (my new lubricant of choice). After making it spring several times I reinstalled the advancer and points plate.
I reinstalled the cover and took her for a spin.
Still some mid range hiccups, but WOT is very strong now. Pulls like crazy and sounds much better. I will be pulling off my carbs again wednesday and Installing (recommended by caaveman) an angled fitting in the fuel line to get it to where it's pointing "down" instead of all bunched in there.
As I hope this to be the last time I have the carbs off this season (probably won't happen) I will be pulling all my jets, needles and whatnot and cleaning OCD style. I'll also be rechecking my floats. (especially # 2 which seems to run a smidge cooler) I plan to move my clip on my main needle again.
After they are reinstalled, I will be gapping and installing new plugs.
The bike already runs pretty well, and my new ignition is in the mail (will correct my intermit loss of power).
After I am done with the mechanical aspect, I will be sanding and repainting my tank. AGAIN. hahaha. It really needs it as the last time it was dropped, it landed on the cap and a bunch of gas came out on it.
I'm not sure why my badges don't want to go back on, so maybe you have a tip on that?
Other than that, I need to finish up some form of seat. Hopefully I can be done with everything but the seat by wednesday early afternoon.
Wish me luck!
