dunno if your MC or caliper is the same as mine, but there's a wee tiny little hole that lets up on brake pressure when you release the brakes and it gets gummed up pretty easily.

hope that's not it, cuz that could be a pain.

In the MC right? Cuz here I am thinking that there's a hole that lets air in the lines to release pressure and that it was put there on purpose.

yeah I think it's in the MC. I thought it was for the return and release of pressure of the fluid. huh. maybe I'm wrong. It's been awhile since I had to do that. There are threads around.

yes there is a pressure hole in the m/c. usually sucking the original fluid out of there clears em up. Unless they are extremely nasty then it requires a paperclip or something.

They are cut. Just waiting on a broken machine to deck them flat. I broke it during set-up. Silly me.

Everything will be loose because of the excess travel in the shock, but once they are on the bike everything should be golden. I'll use some safety wire to keep them from blowing apart on you. All bonneville speed and #$%*.

Stock shocks? Why not unscrew the top fitting and cut down and re-thread the rod?

I'm gonna compress the caliper again and bleed it again and see what happens.

As for the shocks, I have no idea what you just said buddy, but if you get a frantic call from me, then that means I don't know what I'm doing. They're pretty easy to install so.... Well, I guess you've got me confused. ha.

I'm pretty close kit. I'm afraid to set a date, but I WILL be riding before my birthday may 28th, and that's the truth!!!!!

Ink you might take in the caliper and clean it out followed by a new seal, mine did exactly what you decribed after I would let it set for a month or so. When i finally had the cash to tear into things this is what I found(see pic below), could be your sticking problem along with the MC's super micro hole. I still have to rebuild my MC so who knows what's hiding in there waiting for me, I did however find the elusive extended reach snap ring pliers at dennis kirk's that are needed to get into that first snap ring on the MC. I will post a link of it later and for now here is what I found in my caliper that you might encounter, I noticed that mine would let loose for a bit too after flushing new fluid through.

Already done.

I still have to come up with a way of changing the coil wind like the originals. I forgot it's been so long.

Was going to torch em and bend by hand but then they lose the temper. And dunking them in water real quick might not bring enough of that back.

Excellent. With the spring cut, and the rod cut down to match, the modification should be nearly invisible. Sorry no advice on closing up that last coil. They did it at the factory on a machine before heat treating of course. This issue is what's always kept me from cutting down shocks, ran blocks for a while but in the end I bought shorties.

I thought about machining little bevel cups to go over the top like spring buckets in cars. But I dont know if I have enough scrap material to do that. Hmmmm....

Seems more and more like torch it is.

Ok. Im done laying glass!
I have to sand it. Woot! Compressed the caliper, fluid squirted out, fluid is returning to the caliper so I've got no idea about my ghost sticking concern. Ill put it back together on wed, and sand my seat and prime.
I've got a sewing machine to do my seat upholstery. Annnnnd, I found out a friend of mine has a synch meter for my carbs.
Things are perking up!

Nah not possible Marti, no one has a life out side of here!

Inky......you need to fish around inside your master cylinder for that second release hole, it is about needle point in diameter so just scratch around for it.
When you find the large hole where fluid goes down to your discs it will be between there and the tube that takes the fluid down to discs.
Pretty freaky when your discs lock at speed, front wheelstands on large bikes are exciting, exhilarating and totally unexpected.

Oooooh kay kiddos.
So, As my devoted readers may understand by my previous posts, I'm battling my completely fabricated seat.
Well, the hump was carved and I got materials to form the seat out of, formed it, laid a layer, looked alright, laid another layer, didn't look so good removed it from the frame and deleted the hinges and hold downs out of the mold.
I have yet to cut them off of the frame, but, weather permitting, that will be happening wednesday. So I laid the 4th layer, seat will stand up it's own, I can smack it against stuff and it doesn't break or chip and i cannot bend it, so, after I cut the stuff off the frame, I will install it, and cut to fit. If it needs more glass, i will do it then. Still have to sand and bondo.

Ok. Then I'm sitting in the garage, looking at my tank thinking to myself about leaving it the old, ratty stock paint and I decide....F*ck it. I drive my happy ass to the hardware store and get a couple nylon wheels. I find a corded drill in the house and then remember the tank is full of gas. So....Let's see what I have to put gas in, cause these gas cans are older than my bike.

So, after using up all the liquor bottles I had, I ruined a worms day by strategically dumping..... "water" in the gravel next to my garage. Got a problem with it? Suck it, this is my thread.
So, Now that the tank is pretty much empty, I get to work with the wheel. I pulled the badges off a couple days ago to find that the right one had been double side taped on anyway. I taped off the cap, because I'm stupid and couldn't figure out how to get it off. Not that I tried very hard either. I started stripping at 4:57 and stopped at about 7:15. 1 wheel got about 3/4 of the top, front and sides stripped. Not sure what I'm going to use for the inside. I tried a smaller wheel with no success.
All I've found so far is 2 dents. 1 of which did have some rust.

Some of you may remember that I had a little wager on St. paddys day for when I would succumb to the pocelain gods, and Luder won!
Well I sent him his prize. A bigass bottle of beer. Assuming the transaction was over, and thanked, he sends me a message asking my what colors I like, and tells me we're trading beer. So, I wait.
a couple weeks later I drive past the house during work and see a package sitting on the door step. I whip into the driveway, run up and get inside. It's like christmas. I wish I would taken pics of the package before i demolished it, but here's what was inside. I couldn't decide what to drink first so I drank them both.

Again, my dog is impressed.

Keep at her ink I am also playing again. Hey that stuff looks familiar and I am glad the mirror made it in 1 piece, that is etched not a decal so we should make another bet-whats going to last the longest your seat or the mirror. I would blast or strip and sand the tank myself also when you grind down your seat use kitty hair or short strand (fiberglass bondo) before regular plastic it would save you some time and it is alot stronger. I will be watching your build...later luder ps keep that knee out of the wheel-safety 1st
