First rebuild
« on: March 03, 2009, 09:50:56 PM »
Hey all!  My father and I are doing our first rebuild on a 1979 cb650.  I am having trouble finding pistons and after about 5 hours online I found a website where I can get the pistons rings pins and clips for about 370.  Is this a good price or should I hold out hope to find something on ebay?

Can I reuse my my old valves if I clean them up and and use a valve grinding compound on the cylinder head.  The old valves really dont look that bad.  The valve seals were bad so that allowed some build up so I am replacing them.  I am trying to get away with not taking it to a Machine shop if I dont have to.

How difficult is the carb rebuild?  I found 4 rebuild kits for 55 for all four.

Sorry I know its a lot of questions but I just wanna make sure I am doing this right.  Should I replace the valve guide and o-rings as well?
