  You have to admire their pluck but to spend all that time, effort and money on what was probably a tense and uncomfortable trip??   
  Winter in the sub-arctic is for snowmobiles, the same trip a few months later would be great. OTOH, snow belt riders might find a mid-summer tour E-W across the south of the USA to be a challenge.

  Riding 100 km/hr in -28C temps has a wind chill factor of around -51. That's brutal. The best thing about a trip like that is to be able to say you did it.
  I'm surprised that with all the preparation details that no block heater was installed on the bikes. Every winter vehicle in the North needs a block heater.  Still think those Dutchmen are nuts. ;)

If you have the right gear it's acctualy fun. however I dont think I would take a trip that long, way to much weight on those bikes.
