Tach cable seal, whitch way is up/out???????

I just got a tach cable seal and don't know whitch way to put it in. I have a 78 cb750. HELP!

The closed end faces the outside world, the end with the groove goes towards the oil.

  At your local friendly Honda dealer. Should be $2-$3.

I seem to remember that the hot trick for a tach cable seal was to use the version honda sold for the d-ohc motor, word was it was a little larger thus creating a tighter seal in the long-long run.

Anyone tried it?
