Just wanted to return and post my mishaps and garner some opinions. I posted the mess in my build thread here
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=38242.msg501595#msg501595

and below is a rehash of an epiphany - I would like to clue in on the why's though for sure.

Maybe someone can explain the relationships of the hangers to the forks to the rotors to me because I'm not sure why it's this way.

The left hanger mounted on the factory machined fork

Lower mount is parallel to the outside of the rotor (and is what I presumed the right should match).

The right hanger shimmed up with 3 washers after I brutalized it.

Do you see what I see? It's still parallel but this time it's to the inside of the rotor?

Why is that?

I think, the centreline of the mount hole, is not in the centre of the bracket where the caliper mounts.

It was easier to mount fender bracket outside the top pivot instead of directly to fork leg with bracket outside.
That way you don't have to use a bunch of washers

agreed, and you have the direct bolted force to the fork leg, not through the guard brace.

Yeah, I'm surprised that with the caliper on the rotor it wants to sit in the position it's in as opposed to being a mirror of the left side.

I made the mistake of thinking it would be a mirror of the left side and the FAQ threw me off a bit so I shaved the right side down to the outside of the rotor like the left side. That was wrong based on fitting the caliper to the rotor with new pucks and so it needed the 3 washers on the lower mount to bring it where it needed to go. I think.

Serious problem?

Can anyone take pics similar to the ones I took for comparison? This is a CB750K-5.
