In Illinois, I believe it's like $20, but the classes fill up the instant they're posted on the internet. Most, if not all the funding comes from licensing of motorcycles, and is state funded. ![Cool 8)](http://forums.sohc4.net/Smileys/default/cool.gif)
That is run by the NIU MSF if it's what you're thinking.
NIU= Northern Illinois University
MSF= Motorcycle Safety Foundation
For those who don't live in IL.
If you time it right, you can sneak in with the lottery system and take your course for free. People travel from all over the state looking to take these classes and some cannot get out or work or the like. So almost every weekend there are open seats. At least in my area there are. All of the bikes are donated by local dealers or private individuals, and if you choose to donate your $20 it goes toward updating the course equipment. (cones, helmets, etc.)
Plus it helps to know some of the instructors. Or be related to them.....

Otherwise there's Kutter Harley Davidson in Janesville for around $350 I think? and then the new Kegels Harley Davidson in Rockford for about $275. Oh cannot forget you still have to take the DMV course with these options.

That might have changed after this year though.
