Author Topic: today is one of the times when i wish my cats could talk (Read 1593 times)

i was stretched out on the couch reading when i heard a rustle. i had gone to the farners market the other day looking for root vegetables and i came home with a heavy duty paper bag with those fiber handles on it. my 2 smallest cats fell in love iwth the bag so i left it in the living room for them to play in it. i looked up at the sound of the rustling to see the bag flying in an arc over a pedestal fan i have in the living room (around 4 feet in the air) rocky and callie go flying in different directions then the fan fell over landing partly on me on the couch. 99% of the action however was blocked by the coffee table so i dont know what in the hell happened to make that giant paper bag fly or to tip over this big fan. the wife comes running into the living room to see me laughing like an idiot on the couch with the fan on me. lord i wish they could talk. i asked them what happened but all they would say ir mreowwwwwwwwpurrrrrrrrrr

I have had something similar happen when one of my cats gets his or her head stuck in the loop handle of the bag. They just panic and dash around the house leaving a path of destruction in their wake. They love playing in the bags so we just make sure the handles are removed or one side cut.

Ha! Ha!

I can just picture that!

You see, we've had some pretty good antics involving one of our cats (who has been gone for some time now) and with those paper grocery sacks too! One time we had been to the grocery store, bought groceries, came back & emptied the sacks. Well, one sack had fallen to the floor and Scooter was checking the sack out, so we left it to see what she would do. She managed to turn the sack on it's side and walked into it. Now, when she walked into that sack, it turned upright again and Scooter, being somewhat small at the time, didn't know how to get out. So, we turned the sack on it's side and she came running out. Then she turned sideways and came running at the sack, attacking it and, in doing so, ended up back in the sack turning it upright again and once again stuck in the sack. After several repeats of this, we put the sack up.

After all, our sides were hurting from laughing so much.

Pets are definitely cool!

i swear, if it werent for these furry little boogers my life would be very very dull. i like em better than most of my human family exluding my wife step daughter and my granddaughter.

Ahh Fuzzy I'm not sure about cats talking, I can see it now or hear it now, "Hey dumb you call that cat litter and whats that in the dish by the gods of all cats I wouldn't feed that to a dog, and what the hell do you mean bringing an interloper in here, I'll kill it, I want out I want in, I want out I want in, I want out I want in, I want out I want in, cant you do something about the weather Loser, what do you mean leave the birds alone" this is from observing the little buggers for 50 some odd years, now having said that, they have great personalities which they occasionally share with their humans.

That she is but oh so tempermental. True to her barn cat origins she loves to be outside in any weather. She has a good understanding that she is not to leave the yard but her curiosity gets the best of her. I usually catch her in the neighbors backyard and as soon as I yell at her "Get back in the house" she comes slinking back tail down, ears back, and #$%*ing the whole way. Then she gives me this look of utter contempt before she goes back in the house. I have the yard fenced in and it has been a partial success in keeping them in but she will dig under the fence like a dog. She constantly probes for new avenues for escape and I block them off as I find them. It is a battle of wits and many times I do not come out on top.

I like your Siamese. That is my next cat when that day comes.

typical calico, like tortoiseshells they have big attitudes, probably why i like em so much. i wish i lived where mine could safely go outside

rocky the abysinnian and bucky the little siamese are the same way. rockys favourite is a box that 2 pounds of farfale pasta came in, he;s so small he can get a fair amount of his body in it.

Be glad when I can get to where I can post photos again. I have a big Calico (Molly Belle) who has LOTS of attitude and hisses at me when I get onto her, and then I hiss at her and she hisses back at me and so on.

Then there is the large solid Black cat (Joy) who thinks she has taken over charge of the place, from Molly and she will proceed to tell us about it.

My wife was hoping that, since we got Joy as a very young kitten, she would be a "lap cat" for her. But, that wasn't to be. Joy is very much MY cat and she shows that fact, every chance she gets. If I'm gone for a while, she greets me when I get back and my wife doesn't appreciate it. Another ting that Joy used to do, was to jump from a table (that is behind me, when I'm at the computer) and land on my shoulders.

Fortunately she doesn't do THAT anymore (she was a young kitten then and now she's a very large cat!).
