ALWAYS have tags on your pets
« on: March 11, 2009, 01:28:59 AM »
Asparagus (gus) one of the 2 feral cats i rescued back in 2006 got out and disappeared for 3 days, he came home to me this evening thank god. the main only reaon he got back home to me  knew he belonged to me is because he had his name, address and telephone number on his tags. i was a total mess for the time he was gone. all sorts of stuff ran through my head like he was picked up to use for dog fighting bait, he was eaten by one of the foxes that we see from time to time, he was hit by a car, he couldnt find his way back home, or maybe he was killed by one of the stray dogs thatr live in the area. ALL the cats are now getting bells on their collars so the little #$%*s will have a harder time of getting out. these nice folks wouldnt accept the 100 dollar reward i has posted for him too. goes to show that not everyone is bad around here. this pic is of him in his usual sleeping position. theyre all going to be micro chippes as well as soon as i can afford it.

He was obviously jealous of the new Suzuki Titan (or scared of it)!

Glad he's back, Fuzzy.  Our neighbors dog was hit by a school bus this morning.  He was a neighborhood character, and everyone is saddened. :(

Is it safe to say that your name is sources from the Comic "Get Fuzzy"?

One of my favorites!  ;D

Location "buckyvania" kinda gave it away too.

micro chipping is a great idea; the homeless cats i place pretty much always get it done.

i know what it's like when a pet goes on a walk about. not a good feeling.

Glad you got your cat back. Here in the sticks, it is not worth it as the foxes/coyotes/fisher cats ignore them.
We usually lose at least one cat/year. :-\

i have Hamish who already walks on a leash and i started training callie the tortie i adopted in july on leash. even at 2 years old she's taking to it like a pro. wonder if i could walk the terrible twosome on one of those double harnesses WITHOUT me having to go to the er for stitches afterwards. some cats can be trained a bit. i have all 6 of mine trained so that when i say "go to your room" they all head for the bedroom 9 times out of 10. we just use lots of positive reinforcement with treats.

we say "whoooooo's huuuungry"... i have to imitate elizabeth's high pitched version to make it work for me... and they all bolt to the basement where they get fed.
