Hi there hondaheads
I'm Bob, from west london, england. 31 years of age, been riding sportsbikes for ten years, never really got my hands dirty before, but a few days ago I picked up something of a basket case of a cb750 for my first project. I've always ridden hondas, love the engines, but I am pretty green in terms of working on them, and hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. I have a very clear idea of what I want to do, and am fully prepared to learn the art of patience. No clear set timeline, just at the stage of clearing out a workspace.
The bike? Its a Y reg (think that means 1983 over here) cb750 and the engine is in boxes. No definitive answer as to why it was broken down, cylinders don't look (to a very untrained eye) marked, although one has a small amount of rust in it. I guess the big clue is that I can find any pistons in the boxes (!). But I don't get how you can have a problem with pistons that leaves no trace on the cylinders? Then again, what do I know.
Anyway, just wanna say, this place looks like a godsend, and I have no doubt its going to make my life a hell of a lot easier over the next few weeks, months, years???
BTW, anyone able to tell me how I can tell the model from the serial number?
