CB650: Bigger front tire?
« on: March 20, 2009, 11:02:02 AM »
I've got a '79 CB650 in dire need of a new set of tires. One of my friends has a bunch of bike parts including some tires that he never got around to putting on. The one I'm interested in is a 110 90 19 for the front of my bike. However, the original is a 100 90 19. How would this effect my bike's handling? From what I've read via Google, a larger front tire will make steering "heavy" and the bike won't be as nimble. If I were to lower the triple tree to compensate for the extra height, would I regain the proper geometry and handling? I only ask this because the tire was free and I'm the ultimate tightwad.  8)

If he has a fender it will rub.  Got good deal on a 110 so bought it for my 80.  Same forks and trees as a 79.  On a dual disk front there is enough room.
