I bought this grips can I get it to fit throttle
« on: March 13, 2009, 07:40:00 AM »
I fell in love with these bicycle grips so they should be here later today. I thought they were motorcycle grips but realized they are bicycle and will both be 7/8. I was thinking of ways to get the throttle side to fit since it is bigger.....Maybe I can stretch it or something but doubt it. If not I might use this on the non throttle side and white grand turismo on the throttle side ideas thoughts.

Trick I learned. Microwave it for about 30 seconds, or if it has metal on or in it, find a curling iron, stick the grip over it and warm it up,  remove, spray hairspray on the throttle and slide it on.

I bought harris grips for my bike and the throttle side was very...difficult. Learn from my hassle. haha.

That would be sweet if it works I love the minimal old school look of these grips and if I could get it to fit without doing and damage I would be very  ;D.

No reason it shouldn't. We use the old microwave trick on loads of old stuff in the shop. My harris grips are very skinny. Lemme see if i can find a pic...

Now i just have to cut off the excess throttle.
Forgive my typing today, my fingers aren't working?

I think the harris grips are 1 inch on the throttle side I had a set of them before. I am hopeing the trick works on the 7/8 bicycle grips.

Once you get them heated up and ready to go on, spray the inside with hair spray.  It lubricates to help them slide on, and then holds them in place when it dries.

Ditto the Hairspray trick. Worked like a charm for me.

I will try all these tricks I am hoping they come today because I am really wondering if I can pull it off without screwing it up.
