New Age Bracketry
« on: March 13, 2009, 10:10:00 PM »
It was posted in another thread that it seems children are running a muck on the board.

So instead of searching for a previous age thread..... Because I'm lazy and want the post boost...... I made this one.

No need to post your age for everyone to see if you are shy, like me, but you can stick it up top and be cast in anonymity for eternity.

Enjoy!!

P.S. - Did I get anyone with the title? And you thought I meant some sort of part bracket. Silly.

Going for my 3 score and 10 and if the GD cold and snow ever stops, a ride before I get there, when I do I'll have to change my moniker to demon70.

I'm not sure why we all don't use the info in the avator to answer age and where we're from, it would seem to answer alot.

Anyone care to tell me why not, rotten punk kids?  ;)

For those over 50 who are just figuring out the Internet, there needs to be some sort of anonimity. For instace if you post your age in a post it is harder to find that say in your profile, and those that are paranoid like me don't realy want everyone In the world knowing were I live. For me it's that simple.

billybobobrain,

I try to understand the anonimity bit, but I think here we're a bunch of like-minded folk and I don't mind using my name, etc. I don't give my exact address mind you but I'm not worried about anyone riding off with one of my bikes anyway, I'm rural, have a dog and swing a big stick!

I expect we're all joking about all this. I remember being 18 when I bought my K3 750 at the end of the 73 roadrace season (one of the racebikes at the shop where I worked)  and pissing off all the Norton Combat & other guys who though they were hot. Great to be young and full of piss & vinegar!

It's not surprising to have young guys join the SOHC4 crowd, it keeps these old bikes out there. I'm also pleased to see a bunch of young fast guys taking up vintage roadracing. They can't afford to race anything modern and vintage is a cheaper way to get some thrills and experience.

I am 26.

I am just curious as to why you would be ashamed to post your age? What difference does it really make?

In my case, at least, it's not so much shame as it is fear of judgment. I've done quite a bit in the last 10 years and when people realize where I've come from and then look at my age they tend to get stand offish.

I was using one of the other site themes for a while and it did not show age/location information.

I think there was a thread similar to this one but some people were trippin' 'cause they marked it 30-40, 40-50....  There was a one year crossover.  Havoc did this one right.

You would be surprised how many people between 60 and 85 still ride 800lb'ders.  Heck, have you seen the training wheels setup for gold wing?  Two little wheels will lower as the bike comes to a stop and they raise as it pulls away.  Perty sweet setup actually.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

And my WiiFit age is 26.

But alas, at present I'm 34 and will be teaching mini-me to ride in a few years time!
