Am I a Traitor!?!
« on: March 14, 2009, 08:54:12 AM »
So I currently own a 77 CB750F, CB500, CB550, a CB750k-somethingnother, and a CB650 motor...  Big Fan of the CBs and of this site.  Yesterday I read a post where someone linked a CX500 Forum site... why would this be a problem?  I actually Own a CX500!  I picked it up, non-running, from my neighbor for 125 bucks with plans of developing madd Fabrication skillz using it instead of my CB.  Then I picked up the other CB's shortly after and have been focusing on them ever since.  I kinda thought of the CX as a lame machine compared to our way cooler CBs... but after seeing this other forum and the amazing choppers/bobbers/cafe racers they build out of the CXs I can see a conflict of interest!

I'm including a link to their forums for your convenience but I am in no way responsible for any one elses decesion to jump ship and start buying CXs!  :o :o :o   ::)

I will say, I love the layout of the SOHC4 forums a lot better then the CX's.

http://choppercharles.com/cs/forums/41105/ShowPost.aspx the link that was posted here

I know a lot of you have other bikes and are part of other "communities" so I don't feel to bad.  This is still my homepage and my "first love" as far as bikes go.

Feel free to share your other "mistresses" and their respective forums.

well... I've been a 1/2 traitor for a long time now so going full traitor is probably the next logical step...

so 754, do you kick start every time you get on the bike?  :P

I have to say my project bike is going to be a CB550 transmission with 650 jugs/top end so I can retain the kick start!  I hope that redeems me at least a little!  ???  :D

my 836 never had a kickstart.. think I did have one on my cop bike, not sure if I used it or not..

So most of the time since about 78 I never used them.

My bikes are usually lowered, might make it easier to kick.

When I get a lot more crippled up, I may need to run one...

Hey Ratchet, You make me laugh ;D So why have I never heard of the CXs? In a past life I actually had two, one Deluxe and one Custom. What do you got?

You've never heard of the CX (only one... at this time... ;) ) because we know each other by our CBs!  and the CX is kinda like that red headed stepchild.  My first priority is still going to be "Project Elizabeth" which is the 550/650 super hybrid.  But after that, I may be all about the CX.  If I remember... (I've had it for over a year now) it was/is a custom.

I'm forming up a small list in my head, Project Elizabeth will be a Cafe' Racer, and the spare 750 will become a Bobber, and If I go with the CX, I think it'll be a Racer as well.

Any who, have you done the dual disk conversion yet!?!

Straight outright traitor here then...
CB650's have no choice.

P.S. the CX's I've rode are pretty nice overall.
Still waiting to get a 'lil bagger one though.
I've always thought the V-twin honda's had the right idea allowing BOTH cylinders to be able to cool the way they are set up.

In the early 70's, one of my friends stored his hot rod 64 Sportster in my garage.  He was going to be gone for a while so he told me to ride it every now and then.  It was a XLCH with the magneto, sifton cams, and high compression pistons.  You used the left grip to retard the magneto to start.  All you had to do was forget to retard that thing once and you would pay for it with a vicious kickback.  Learned to use the kickstart while standing on the right side of the bike.
