Topic: Do the carbs have to be level from front to back on the cb750?

I'm hardtailing the ass end and I put 6" overs on the forks I need to know if the carbs have to be level from front to back....Thanks

I would keep them as level as I could..........otherwise it could mess with the float levels in the carbs.........if the carbs ain't level that means the engine isn't level either............I can see where you are going with your build  (hardtail and 6" over front end)............but..........how do you know you need a 6" over front end???.....I would do the hardtail first........keeping the lower rails parallel to the ground, and in turn keeping the engine level.......after that, measure for the length of the front end..........just my opinion though......................

What would off level hurt in the floats and motor?

I take it you won't be stretching the frame downtubes???   If you do, you'll not only keep your engine and carbs level, but you'll be able to get the head off with the engine in the frame.

You could go lean on the carbs and I am not sure here the oil pickup is.

Pics from the second link show just what kind of difference stretched downtubes can make in keeping a bike with over length forks looking right, and keeping the engine and carbs levelled.  Both configurations have been on the street since way back when so I doubt it'd make a big difference to the carbs.

Notice the difference in space between the frame crossbar and the valvetrain cover.
