Time for an update with some new pictures!

Rocker Arms pulled and organized.


Valves look great! Little crud on the #3 but will easily scrape off.


Likewise on the pistons cylinders smooth and free moving


Cylinders in great condition


Everything looks good on this side


Sprocket is covered in old smelly crap- I'll be cleaning this soon


Clutch/Shifter looks good how do I tell if the gears are worn? gotta open the case still?


Engine as it stands today


Anyways so thats the engine currently. Im starting to wonder about cleaning what Ive pulled so far, painting the cooling fins like I want buying the new gaskets I'll need and put it back together. Everything internally is looking MUCH better than I had expected.

Thoughts from the group?

Mine looked about like that with 40k miles.

Only way to tell about the transmission is to split the cases and look.

Over all everything seems to be not half bad.

Polish the pee outta it, and hit it with some clear hi-temp rustoleum...

Do they even MAKE clear hi-temp rustoleum?   ;D
