Anyone know where to get the emulsion tubes for a CB550?
« on: September 15, 2023, 12:38:16 PM »
Hi all,
I have spent all summer hunting down an issue with my 74 CB550. I've had the carbs out at least 10 times. At least, I am getting better at pulling them out now.

I've got one cylinder running very rich and 2 running lean. So I've changed everything except for the emulsion tubes. The more I read, the more it sounds like that may be my issue.
I've tried cleaning the old ones. Lots of carb cleaner and a sonic bath, but it's hard to see the condition of the inside of the tube.

So where does one get emulsion tubes? I bought a 4into1 carb kit to get the rubber pieces out of it. I also came with emulsion tube but... surprise surprise... they don't even fit. tried tapping them into place... No luck.

So does anyone have an idea where one might get new emulsion tubes that are genuine Keihin? I've got new mains and pilots from jetrus but they said they don't carry the emulsion tubes...

Thanks all!! :) :)

Wow! That's the first time I've seen those for sale on a website. So it says that its for the 550F.... Do you think that they are the same ones that are in the 550K? And are they legit Keihin?

The post below I copied from an old post by a different member:

Carbs 022A, 627B, 649A, 087A all share the same needle set (needle and tube) parts no. 16012-323-004. Needles have stamped on number 272304. These carbs are found on CB500, 500K1, 500K2, CB500K2[ED, F, G], CB550, CB550K1, CB550K2. Needle position may differ ofcourse.

Carbs 069A have needle set 16012-390-004 and are found on the models CB550F, CB550F1 and CB550F2. Needles have stamped on number 273004.

Needle sets 16012-323-004 and 16012-390-004 do differ, both needles as holes (smaller in the latter)

Above information concerns old style Keihins only.

Awesome!! Thanks for the info! I have a 022A Keihin so that will make searching for parts way easier!

Can you even still order new (old stock) Keihin parts? And if so, any idea where? Can't seem to find much.

if you can see through the tubes and they are not damaged your rich n lean condition wont be the tubes,be sure your ignition is spot on first, can you post some clear pics of your old tubes?
