Hey Geoff, half of my blood is from Orkney, thanks for posting your location. My grandparents emigrated from Orkney in early 1900's, met and married here in Michigan, USA. I've never been, but if you see any Wilsons, Harveys, or Browns around Costa, Evie, or Kirkwall they're likely my long lost cousins!

South Padre is about 30 miles long but only populated for about 4 miles...it is about 1/4 mile wide...

It makes for some good bar hopping but not for an actual ride...

we have 3 main roads one on the beach, one that runs the bay and one in the middle...and they are connected by cross streets...

never heard of a Frenchy's...but I have only been here for 9 or 10 years

Hi Seabird,
Where is the nearest town to you that I would know?
Jim.

Kevin, I,m sure there are still relatives around. This is the kind of place where if you don't know someone you at least know one of their relations even with the population being c 20,000. If your interested in a little family research try the 'Orkney Family History Society' at http://www.orkneyfhs.co.uk/.
