Do I need a diffuser on 341's ?
« on: March 16, 2009, 12:22:04 PM »
I found a cheap set of 341 pipes for my 750.
They didn't come with diffusers.

Do I need them? Will it be super loud without them or will it alter the performance by messing  up the exhaust gas flow, etc?

Thanks

It will be pretty loud, not as loud as short drag pipes or 4 into 1 with megaphone, but on the loud side. And you may need to up the main jet for perfect running.

I'm running 341's without diffusers on my K1. Sounds nice, of course louder than stock, but far from offensive. Stock air box with foam filter. 115 main 38 slow, 1 step down from stock on both but it would be OK with 120 main and 38 slow, just have to ride harder :)

Having had both, I'd say HM300's are that much sweeter than 341's without baffles.

In the sweetest sound on earth category would also have to be the RC 166...that crazy little 6

341's; throaty, open sounding, a hint of 'burble', medium to dense 'backdraft' on over-run, subtle harmonics and 'pocking' thru' medium range rpm...and a nice flourish at up-changing !!!

Gotta join this one!  ;D
Wouldn't you love to buzz to work on an RC166? That's kinda why I'd like a 350F one day.
