i have the one "hammer the hell out of it vote"... i would imagine that once summer rolls around and the 400 project gets started things WILL change.  but as of now, my 350 is waiting.  gotta go ride!

In spite of the low miles (17K), it's still 29 years old and has it's needs.  But I spend far more time riding than working on it.

I reckon there should be a high percentage of riders, 'cos the technical questions these days ain't as as forthcomming as they used to be.

My '75 CB750F is now at just under 96,000 miles and has never needed anything more than routine maintenance.  I've had the engine out of the frame twice over the years to retorque the head.  I replaced the seals under the cam towers last time it was out to stop some weeping there.  That's it.  Most reliable vehicle I've owned.

I got my K5 750 in Riverton,Wyoming April 2000 and just rode the hell out of it without much work. You can only ride 4-5 months out of the year though because of the weather.I only paid $500 for it and have amassed a whopping 3K miles on it but now its been sitting for a year in California and is just about ready to go again. You would be surprised at all of the things I have found that needed to be done to it but you know....these things are like Timex watches...take a lickin' and keep on kickin' ass!

I've got 3.5 CB750's, 2.5 Suzuki GS1000's, 1 Suzuki GS750 and 1 Suzuki TS185 (sheep chaser) routine maintenance alone dictates that I spend AT LEAST 75% of the time just wrenching on the damn things! Cheers, Terry. :-[ (actually I love resurrecting old bikes, so I don't mind, but I would like to go for a ride now and then, ha ha!)
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Well It used to be about 75% ride, but then I had to store it for 4 years and now it is all work when I can, to try and restore it. Then I am looking at hammertime!

Do we have a 1% work and 99% ride vote. That's me! Fortunately, only having the 1 bike and having it running like a dream all I have to do is ride, "come on baby, ride"...

25 work 75 ride.

It's mostly minor issues right now that require my attention.  Replace the valve cover gasket to stop the oil weep and replace the fork seals to stop the fork leaks and the bike will be 90%.  The last 10% is the loud camchain tensioner.  >:(

Working on the bike is part of the fun of owning it.  I am consider the work just as fullfilling as the riding.

75% ride, 25% work. I've only filled the tank in my car 3 times since I got my bike about 4 months ago.

Well I guess it depends on what bike, in what condition etc, I've now got 9 bikes in my garage and I just bought that BMW K1100LT in mint condition, so it'll be 99% riding, but I must admit I replaced the footpeg rubbers yesterday, it took all of 5 minutes, so to keep the average up, I won't be doing any more maint until next month, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah, but not by choice. I still have to drive to work when it's storming out. They won't let me come in soaking wet (tried it). Also, it's hard to fit 4 or 5 friends on my bike lol.

I would say 90% ride, 10% work on the thing..
I have to say (knocking on my desk), that my scoot runs very very well. It has never broke down, and the only time I really "work" on it is when I am adding/changing something on it.

Well the starter motor on my Suzuki GS1000S packed it in, and it took me about 30 minutes to replace it yesterday, but I rode it and my BMW for a 100 mile ride each today to circulate the oil and keep the batteries up, (sadly the Yuasa I put in the Suzuki 6 years ago is just about faaarked) so I think I'm still maintaining the average, ha ha! ;D
