All done!! Pictures attached
« on: March 16, 2009, 07:42:31 PM »
Well I want to thank everyone who helped me get through my winter project.  I bought this 75 Cb 750 in Sept. of 08 and have been working on it in my garage.  You can see that it was in a barn for the last 5 years.  I had been asking around for about 5 months when I heard that a guy out in the country had one that he would probley sell.  I called him up and asked him what it was and if he was interested in selling it.  He said sure. So I asked how much, he said  $100.00.  I told him I would take it and I would be there in % minutes he started to laugh and said that I should take a look at it before I bought it.  So I laughed and said that I will be bringing it home today.  When I arrived I gave him a 100 he laughed and brought me to the barn.   He opened it up and asked if I wanted my 100 back and with a big grin on my face I said that it was perfect.  I have always wanted to do something like this just to prove to myself that I could do it.  I never thought that it would be so much fun.  I looked forward to the weekend just to hit the garage.  I also have a 05 1300 VTX that I did a bunch ofwork to but I wanted something that was different that sticks out when I am driving it.    WELL THEY SURE DO LOOK AT THIS !!!!!!!

You probably ended up with enough spares to trade on Ebay. ;D
Finished product well worth the initial $100.

Actually the guy I bought it from did a lot of off roading with it a it had been laid down more than a few times.  There wasnt much that I took off of it that wasn't broke, bent, missing, or just didn't work. I kept a few things if anyone is interested I would let them go cheap just to get rid of them.  But if you want it its probley broke in some shape or form!!

good job. Enjoy it. There are so many different types of bikes all from the same core parts. Amazing. I hope to have something as interesting to share soon also.

He lives about  15 miles out I want to drive it a little more to get any bugs out I rode it today for a few minutes and I will be adjusting the carbs this weekend.  Running lean.  I will have to stop by here sometime he is an older farmer I don't think he will beleive me that it is his old bike.  Well the few that I used to do this one.  Now that I think about it there is probley only about 1/4 of the bike that I actually used maybe I should have offered him only $25.  I felt guilty only paying him $100!!!

Great Job on you build!  What rear fender is that?  Did you drill the holes yourself?  Best 100 bucks you've ever spent I would say!

Looks like a good candidate for The Horse.... send 'em some pix, I bet you will at least get in the Backtalk pages.
Again, really nice, clean bobber. Any in progress pix?

Super sweet.. Looking to do a Yamaha version of the bobber..

How's the ride-ability? I don't suppose it's meant for comfort..

Awesome ride. Great detail!

The headlight is from a Harley that my boss was going to through out because he didn't like the pattern at night,  so good for me.  The rear fender is actually the original fender off the bike I just shortened it a bit and drilled a couple extra holes in it to make a pattern from some of the old mounts.  The back swing arm is from TC BROS. CHOPPERS.  The foot pegs are from my VTX. The tank I bought from some guy that wanted a bigger tank for has sportster.  The bike actually is well balanced, and is pretty comfy.  I had it out yesterday for about 1 1/2 hours and my a!! didn't hurt and my hands didn't fall asleep.  I personally didn't think that the seat was going to be as good as it is.  There is actually pretty good shocks from just having springs.  I haven't taken it out on the highway yet that could be a whole other story.  But I built this most for just driving around town and my VTX for the highway.  Eventhough I haven't even brought that home from storage yet!!!

For the pipes they were the original 4-1 I just cut them just past the seam were they all attach and went to the local muffler shop had them put in about a 10 deg bend and flair both ends.  The one side I overlapped the original exhaust and welded the other I stuck in a baffel from my local parts guy that had just taken it out of a Harley because he wanted it to be louder. Made a custom bracket and the rest is history.
