Here is a picture of the current ride. It is a CB750 and has an 04/72 build date and is titled as a '73. I have had it since '95 and my father had it before that from '87. His best friend bought it new in '73. It was parked in '97 for several years and brought back to life in '05.

I now ride it about 9,000 miles per year, to and from work 2 or 3 days per week and some weekend trips. Current engine is a '78 because of the leaky "O"-rings in the '72 engine, but the '78 is leaking now. From the forum I learned about stuffing paper towels between the head and cylinder to soak up the oil. Lots easier than changing the engine or "O"-rings although that will be done by the summer.
'82 CB450SC daily driver, '73 CB750K being rebuilt (was Dad's), '73 CB750K cafe project, '74 CB750K Rat project, '74 CB750K ex-drag bike, '78 CB750F Rough project/parts, '68 Sears Sabre 50cc "light weight" motorcycle (running), '65 Rambler 2 door flat head six (in process), 108 year old house (always in process)

welcome. Between the two engines how many miles has that bike logged? You still have the original engine? Rebuild it and take care of those leaks.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Holy crap Jerry you seem to be an expert in the toxic shock field! Any particular reason?  :P

I'm kidding but funny story on that... I got in trouble while I was on ship so I had to be the corpsman's b!t@h for a couple weeks. Some Navy cat came in and she was complaining of a horrible stench coming from her downtown bonanza. So I preped a table for the doc and he went in, she had TWO stuck up there. One was over a month old the other was about two and a half months old. Smelled worse than death. That's no lie! LOL

'Ol Ned, I'm sorry we went from your leaky o-rings to... ... ... that.  This really isn't representative of our entire forum, just a small section of really immature... (ok, I'm immature too, but...) you can still find valuable help here. Welcome to our big, weird happy family.  We truly put the 'fun' in 'Dysfunctional'. ::) ;D ;)

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.

55,000 miles total, 40,000 on the K2 engine and 15,000 on the K8 engine (which now has 26,000 total on it). I still have the K2 and will ring and gasket it and reinstall it into this bike. The K8 is going into the K3 Cafe project. The K3 engine still exists but was rained in and frozen up.
No Kotex, the buckles on the belts are too fiddly. No tampons either, the dangly strings look tacky. One twisted Brawny on each side, driven in between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 lasts about a week, less at 80 mph+.

I, too, am immature. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is not.

Samer, we rode out to the quarry- I think I may have found a rock older than you!  We're looking for the cheapest lab for carbon-dating to confirm.
