Sigh.  I'm sorry, but that headlight / bikini fairing just looks too cartoon-y for words.  Like something from a Japanese Pokemon cartoon.  ditto the exhaust.

And I guess I'm just not into the a$$ end of the bike being 27" above the rear tire on a machine that has 5" of rear suspension travel...

But, beauty in the eye, and all that...   :)

You ever ridden it Heff?

I demo'd one last year. Took me completely by surprise. I thought it would be an overpowered 650R. WRONG.
Handled better and out ran almost every 600 sized bike Kawasaki makes. I'm talking road here. Not the track.
Not much protection from rain/debris/etc but an overall nicer bike to ride than the b-king or 1200 bandits.

First thing I'd do is ditch the headlight and exhaust. Everything else seems ok to me looks-wise. You gotta like that modern street fighter look to appreciate these.

I'm surprised the Europeans haven't chimed in here, it was the best selling bike in Europe for a while might even still be. They love there naked bike's over there unlike the US.

The Z1000 has a funky firing order. Doesn't have that smooth wail.

I get my fix and can out run the Z on my glorious nekked bike...

if that was a nekkid bike it wouldn't have an upper fairing (as small as it is) or the chin fairing.
as far as a production bike? ... its close.  still looks like a rocket of some sort though!   ;D

Not everyone understands a nekked bike, or Aprilia.
It has been the highest rated naked bike since '07.
The latest Ducati Streetfighter may top it.
The Tuono is the RSVR minus full fairings.
Its hard to leave a 160 mph bike completely naked you know.

Sorry to wander from the Z topic...
I have ridden with and out performed the Kawasaki Z1000.
Put a 4 into 1 on and toss the pickle fork pipes and it looks good.
But just another UJM.  ::)

i believe thats the 2003 in orange.  imo one of the hottest bikes of all time.  but keep in mind i like the new er-6n, love the z750, the z750s and ride a Versys in candy burnt orange.  so, one may say i like "ugly" bikes!
