MRieck - The OD is 2.5inches. Sorry about taking so long to get back to you.

SKTP - Here are a couple of pics as requested. These are a couple I had on the computer already. If you want some more let me know and I will go take some for ya. Don't look to close you will see the crud on the engine that I managed to miss.

How easy is it to get to the oil plug now?

Both the Oil Drain Plug, and the Oil Filter are the same as before. There are zero clearance issue with anything. Oil is easy to change, center stand works great. The best part is I have tons of clearance now.

looks awesome i seen that exhaust like the day it came out and i have wanted it ever sence but $$$ held me back so instead cycle X sold me a Kerker 4-1 header for $75 shipped and i got a kerker muffler for $50 it looked good and sounds awesome!

Thanks for all the info! I thought about buying one this spring but the beast is still wating for BO parts, so maybe this winter. I love the look and they sound nice, wonder how much different that will be on a 750? I guess I'll find out.

Ok guys, sorry to bump an old thread.

I just bought the Cyclex 4-2-1 exhaust for my 77 CB 750k. Replacing the stock, rusty exhaust.

Now, my question is, when installing, do I need to use the stock "couplers?" I don't know what they are called.

These things:

I installed it without them and fired it up, it's insanely loud and most of the noise is coming from the front of the bike.

Did I just not seat the headers properly, or do I need to reinstall with the "coupler" things?

Did you put new exhaust gaskets on and take out the old when you put the new pipes on?
They look kinda like an o-ring but they are copper.

I didn't. I have the copper ones and I know what you're talking about, replaced them last time I took the exhaust off.

I guess I decided to chance it and lost.

Ok, it loosened a little at the head when I clamped the muffler down earlier.

Tightened the bolts and it's MUCH better. No longer sounds like it's waking the dead.

Took a shakedown run, bike runs a lot smoother than it did with the rusted stocker. Go figure.

Yeah, it's all about taking advantage of companion cylinders. These pipes bring them together, allowing for greater scavenging. I had this exhaust, but just sold it to another forum member on the 20th! I love the sound, but for my project, this didn't even have enough ground clearance.

I know on some forums, people get reamed for digging up old threads, I've had it done to me... I for one, think you are doing what you're supposed to be doing by searching and posting to old threads. It really helps to keep the forum alive and makes the original poster and subsequent posters feel like they said something of value.

I agree. That's why I'm always put off when I search by the message that this thread hasn't had any activity in a long time or whatever it says. Who cares. Resurrecting an old thread is just as good as starting a new one imo. You're still going to get the same responses.

Anyway, did you have much trouble making it fit besides the one pipe? There was a thread here a week or two ago where a guy just gave up trying to make his fit and I believe it was from the X but not certain.

It seems to fit pretty well. I let it do the heat/cool cycle a few times, and tightened at the head each time. Seems to have seated well.

My bike is all stock mechanically, including stock airbox. (Except I'm running the Hondaman ignition.)

I think it's running a little rich now. It pops a lot on deceleration. I suspect I need a carb rebuild (it's never been done as far as I know) and maybe a re-jetting.

If I had to guess, it ran rich and fouled my plugs, because it's running pretty badly now. Seemed like it was running on 3 cylinders briefly the other day, but it was raining and I didn't want to pull over and check.

Oh well, the carbs needed to get sorted out anyways.

Sorry for the delay in pics and video, it was raining and now it's 40 degrees out. I'll get some decent pics this week.
