New Guy In Illinois
« on: March 19, 2009, 12:26:35 PM »
Hi there from west of Chicago....picked up a '78 750K last summer, my first bike despite having my license for a few years during college.  Been thinking about fixing it up a little, so also picked up a '77 750K parts bike last fall...complete, but with a crack in the trans, messed-up throttle linkage, and Winnie-the-Pooh sidecover decals.   :)

Nice to meet you all.

Ha, thanks...but I don't think I'm going to be that...um...correct with the restoration.    ;D

The guy painted it for his wife, and then it sat in a barn for a few years after the chain broke and jammed in front of the drive sprocket.  And not only did it have the decals, but it's two-tone bluish green and purple.  Ugh.

Likewise, if you need anything, let me know.  I've got the '77, and a box of spares that came with the '78, if you need parts.

haha, nice.  I'd like to tear mine down, but I'll be using it as a daily driver now that spring's coming on.  I should just get another engine/trans for the '77 and try fixing that one up.

I'm in NW Indiana - not too far away.  If the bike is pretty complete sans engine... it may be worth recovering.  Do you have a title?  I'd like to know how a 630 chain gave up?!  I have a K7 and K8.
K6
K7
Suzuki GN400 - Ignition fixed!
03 KLR650 - Doesn't do anything very well but.. well.. does everything.
