I almost always wear MX boots. slid down the road seveal years ago, leg got trapped under bike but I still have all my toes and not too many scars (was wearing SIDI MX boots at the time) Bit clunky for changing gear but really good if you have to kick the side of a tin can in when its trying to be the same place you already are.

Altberg motorcyle boots, made in England. Undoubtably the best boots I have ever had. I don't think I will ever use anything else. And I say that despite the fact that my job supplies £200 Daytona boots for free. Which boots do I wear ? My own Altbergs.

Sidi 'On Road's'. Waterproof, breathable and totally comfortable for standing around on a training parking lot. Mine have done 100,000+ kms and been resoled once. Still as watertight as the day I got them.

I have an old pair of Chippewa's and they aren't the most comfortable for walking around in, so I recently retired them in favor of a pair of Doc Martin steel toed lace up work boots. so far they are very comfortable for walking and riding, and the tread seems to be pretty non-slip.

FWIW, I have a pair of Chippewa riding boots that I used to wear on the ride to work, and then just left them on the rest of the day because they were so comfortable.  Considering I work on my feet 8-10 hours a day, that's pretty good.  It all depends on the individual, though.

One thing to be careful of is NOT to wear is steel capped toe work boots.  If your in an accident, and your foot is bent forward (think in terms of your foot landing in front of your foot pegs while still moving forward), the steel cap could act as a guillotine and remove your toes.

Didn't bother to read through 5 pages, but if this was already caught sorry. I just watched a Mythbusters about this very comment. Totally busted
